ON THE MOUND
Joe just didn’t have it today (well, hopefully, it was just today). His velocity was OK, just poor control. After he got out of the bases-loaded jam by giving up only one run I thought maybe he’s settle down/in … unfortunately not (interesting comments on the post game show – Saunders said he felt like the ball had something on it, couldn’t grip it well)
Kameron made made his Mariners debut from the pen and he looked solid for TWO innings – then came the 7th 😦 back-to-back homers from Lowrie and Young. In the 8th Charlie didn’t exactly keep his 0.00ERA in a conventional manner: he promptly hit the first batter, then had 2B stolen on him, then threw a wild pitch that got the runner to 3B and, luckily, Kyle and Jesus linked up to nail that runner at home plate on a fielder’s choice.
AT THE PLATE
* Good = TWO homers (Guti and Morse, both in the 1st)
* Bad = only THREE more hits the rest of the way, all singles
IN THE FIELD
* DP = TWO (Ryan-Andino-Smoak, Ryan-Smoak)
* awesome relay play from Jason-to-Brendan-to-Jesus to nail a runner at the plate
