In a way, this one was more satisfying than the 6-0 victory. Maybe because it came after such a frustrating loss last night (where there were runners on base ALL night long but, they could NOT come up with a clutch hit) and it had that exciting “come-from-behind” factor . . . perseverance prevailed!
ON THE MOUND
Half way through four innings, it seemed that Felix was not going to overcome his nemesis – and then came FOURTEEN in-a-row retired and later, a much needed “W” for the King and, more importantly, the team.
EIGHT innings ~ FIVE hits ~ TWO runs ~ ONE earned run ~ ONE walk ~ SEVEN strikeouts
The Bartender gave up a hit to Hamilton (his only one of the game) but closed it out for his SEVENTH save
AT THE PLATE
I was only listening on the radio here and there while doing some errands and chores but, it sure seemed like there were a LOT of SMASH hits directly into Halo fielders’ gloves (frustrating but, hopefully a good sign).
bad news … only ONE extra base hit
good news … it was Jesus’ homer and it came with a man aboard to tie the game
bad news … only ONE fer THIRTEEN w/RISP
good news … Kendrys pinch hit RBI single gave the M’s the lead they would not relinquish
Some nice hitting streaks building . . .
~ Kyle at SIXTEEN
~ Dustin at EIGHT
~ Endy at SEVEN
IN THE FIELD
* M’s turned ONE dp (Brendon-Dustin-Justin)
* Halos stole a couple of bases (as per usual)
* Jesus was charged with a throwing error in a failed attempt to to catch one of those “stealers” but, more than made up for his boo-boo with the 2-run homer in the 6th AND the play that seemed to be the turning point of the game – a tag at the plate after catching a shovel toss Felix with the Halo’s try at a safety squeeze in the 4th
tweets of the game . . .
Nice to hear that Michael Saunders’ rehab is going well so far . . .
2-5 w/ a double, a triple, a run and an rbi tonight in Tacoma
