Well, at least this one wasn’t a heartbreaker, just a humiliator 😦
ON THE MOUND
Aaron’s first start back after being skipped in NY with a stiff back. Apparently, it’s still stiff, or something , he gave up TWO doubles, TWO triples and TWO homeruns . . .
3.2 innings ~ NINE hits ~ SEVEN runs ~ ZERO walks ~ FOUR strikeouts
}Danny got his second turn (since his M’s debut in CLE) where he struck out FIVE in 2.2 innings and picked up where he left off, adding another THREE strikeouts. But then, he came out for the 6th and proceeded to load the bases with no out.
}Enter Lucas and the bases are cleared via a Trout double and then Trout scores on a Pujols single. With the bases empty, Lucas buckled down and retired the last three batters of the inning with two K’s and a groundout. He would at least finish the game and save the pen further destruction ~ though he’ll likely always remember the second batter in the 8th ~ that would be when he surrendered the home run to Mike Trout that earned him the first Halo cycle since . . . . Chone Figgins in 2006
AT THE PLATE
Williams definitely had the M’s bat’s befuddled – with the first fly ball out not coming until the 6th, and then there were two, with a Kendrys ground rule double (the only extra base hit) in between
IN THE FIELD
* no DP’s for the M’s
* the usual SB by Trout
tweet of the game . . .
(wrong game I know but, had to have SOMETHING positive)
