ON THE MOUND
Kuma breezed through the 1st, 2nd and 4th but, really had to display some p r e t t y fancy pitching to get out of jam after jam the rest of the time. He had two runners on in four innings and a runner at 3B in three innings. He lasted 98 pitches, good for 7.2 innings . . .
SEVEN hits ~ ZERO runs ~ TWO walks ~ FIVE strikeouts
} Enter Charlie with a timely K of Morneau for the third out in the 8th
} Enter The Bartender to close it down (for the first time since May 16th in da Bronx)
AT THE PLATE
~ M’s didn’t get their first hit until the 3rd (Brendan’s single) and didn’t get their first run until the 6th – when they got all THREE: Kendrys’ TWO-run shot for his 8th homer and Sucre’s RBI double.
~ Michael S walked and stole his 7th base (in 8 tries) but, man, is he struggling at the plate right now (his BA has gone from .300 on May 4th to .203 tonight)
~ Brendan is trending in the opposite direction – he’s gone from .122 on May 12th to .214 tonight.
IN THE FIELD
Speaking of Brendan – he just keeps impressing with web gem after web gem . . .
