g75 | ‘t was raining homers at The Safe for the Solstice

Mariners 3 | Athletics 6

All the runs came via the long ball tonight – unfortunately the A’s had FOUR more homers than the M’s which equated to THREE more runs.

ON THE MOUND

Kuma had allowed only TWO homers in SEVEN starts at Safeco Field this season ~ tonight he allowed THREE. First time in 25 appearances at The Safe that he’d given up multiple homers. Still, gave them a chance to win and much improved over his last turn . . .
SEVEN innings ~ SIX hits ~ FOUR earned runs ~ ZERO walks ~ SIX strikeouts

} Charlie struck out the side in the 8th!

} Tom still serving them up . . .  first pitch base hit, third pitch homer and the A’s went up 6-3 but, he would finish the inning via fly out, line out and a strikeout (again, nothing wrong with his velocity – bad location)

AT THE PLATE
~ Nick with his FOURTH homer (FIRST Safeco Field) and it was of the 3-run variety in the 3rd
~ Kendrys with a high chopper, infield single (don’t see THAT everyday)
~ Michael S with a bunt base hit (erased on a pick-off)
~ each team with EIGHT hits – but the M’s had ONE homer and SEVEN singles (good to see that Justin had TWO of those hits)

IN THE FIELD
* super back-handed stop by Kyle to start the 6-4-3 DP in the 5th
* much less than stellar base-running tonight (despite Brendan’s lucky steal of 2B) with Kyle getting caught at 3B after getting to 2B on a passed ball and then Michael S getting picked off 1B (after reaching on a bunt single)
