g77 | Kendrys goes ever so gently home . . .

Mariners 6 | Athletics 3

OK, so, I know they moved the fences in and all but, yowsa! Safeco Field has become a launching pad!
^ Friday night all the runs came via the long ball (FOUR homers for the A’s, ONE for the M’s)
^ Saturday night M’s homer TWO more times and get the win
^ Today the A’s get ONE more and the M’s THREE more in a wildly dramatic victory

ON THE MOUND
Jeremy came into the game having given up only TWO earned runs in his last THREE starts (20 combined  innings vs. Yanks, Astros and Halos). He left the mound today having given up only ONE more (wild pitch with the bases loaded) but, he left the bases loaded and one of the inherited runners scored, for a final line of . . .
5.1 innings ~ SIX hits ~ TWO earned run ~ THREE walks ~ TWO strikeouts

} Danny  got TWO ground balls to get out of the 6th inning (unfortunately, the first one came with the bases loaded so, got the A’s to within ONE run 3-2). Then he proceeded to get SIX more outs in-a-row before giving up a game-tying homer in the 8th. I haven’t checked but, I wouldn’t be surprised if Danny has the best K/9 for a reliever with the highest ERA – in other words, I think he’s got a great strikeout rate but a horrible ERA ~ a rather odd combination. In any case, he kept it close, only giving up that ONE hit to get tagged with the BS.

} Enter good ol’ steady-Eddy Ollie. He gave up a lead off walk in the 9th, but then only ONE hit and NO runs through the TWO full innings to earn the victory AND see his ERA drop below one (0 .98 to be exact).

AT THE PLATE
Old Man Rauuuuuuul did it again! Not ONCE but TWICE . . .
a TWO-run homer in the 1st and a solo blast in the 4th to put the M’s up 3-0

But, save for a couple of singles for Mike Z that would be all she wrote until the 10th – and then it would get really exciting. After Justin popped up on the first pitch, Mike got aboard after striking out on a wild pitch and then Michael S hit a solid single to RF, advancing Mike to 3B. So with runners at the corners and ONE out, Kendrys pinch hit for Brendan . . . BLAMMO!
Walk-off victory! And he  e  v  e  r  so gently crossed home plate 😉

IN THE FIELD
* Cespedes robbed Michael S of an extra base hit in the 2nd
* AWESOME turn by Kyle in the 3rd – snared a smash liner and threw to 1B to double up the runner
* really nice play by Nick to get an out at 1B in the 6th, A’s get a run but, coulda been worse
* A’s made a nice play on a bunt base hit attempt by Endy for the second out in the 8th
* Guti robbed Lowrie of an extra base hit at the top of the wall in CF (unfortunately, he left the game after the 5th with a tight hammy)
