g85 | still sweep-less in Seattle (and Arlington)

Mariners 4 | Rangers 5

A sweep remains ever elusive but, a series victory in Arlington is nothing to sneeze at.

ON THE MOUND
For the most part Kuma effective and efficient – except to Beltre 😦
Two of the five hits he allowed were solo shots to Beltre, one came in the 7th as did Kuma’s only walk allowed. Two of the runs to score were inherited runners . . .
SIX innings ~ FIVE hits ~ FOUR earned runs ~ ONE walk ~ TWO strikeouts

} Charlie came in with TWO on and NO out and promptly allowed both inherited runners to score via a single and a sac-fly and then the third batter he faced reached via an error by Nick (he fielded cleanly but the ball popped out of his glove as he was tagging the runner in the baseline).

} Danny gave up an RBI single and then got out of the 7th with a nifty 3-6-2 DP turned behind him. He got a pop up and allowed a single in the 8th

} Ollie came in and got the last TWO outs of the 8th via a DP

AT THE PLATE
Scoring opportunities squandered every which way but loose (M’s 1 for 12 w/RISP, R’s? 2 for 3) . . .
2nd – Henry hit into a DP with the bases loaded
3rd & 5th – Kendrys with TWO on and TWO out, both times hit rocket at ’em balls to SS and LF respectively
4th – Henry grounds out to end the inning with Justin at 2B
6th – TWO more hits to start the inning and this time the M’s got a run via Endy’s FC and a fielding error to tie
7th – Raul gives the M’s the lead in the 7th with a TWO-run bomb (his 21st homer – 7th off a lefty)
8th – Raul picked up another RBI as Brad scored (who had a pinch hit single and took 2B on an error) but, Kendrys lined out again
9th – Kyle golfed one that ended up being a LONG, LOUD out but, it sure looked good for a second. Endy kept things going with a base hit but Michael, pinch hitting for Henry, struck out to end the game

Raul (4) Kyle (3) Nick (2) and Justin (2) all with multi-hit games

IN THE FIELD

beautiful DP to FINALLY end the 7th (Justin to Brendan to Henry at HOME) and another (more routine) to end the 8th
