g86 | the future is NOW and Ollie, Ollie strikes out THREE

Mariners 4 | Reds 2

So, Brad made the most of his major league debut at the lead-off spot . . .
not ONE but TWO triples! And, best part was that he scored on the first one via Nick’s first pitch homer! And the other Mariners RBI’s – both from Michael S. As awesome as it has been to see what Raul is still capable of it is really great to see the “future M’s” contributing here and now.

ON THE MOUND
Aaron apparently very comfortable back in his old stomping grounds . . .
SIX innings ~ SIX hits ~ TWO earned runs ~ ONE wals ~ FOUR strikeouts ~ FOURTH WIN!!!

} Yoervis as able to get a strikeout and a ground ball in the 7th after the lead-off guy reached 2B on an error

} Charlie with a super outing ~ retiring all FOUR batters he faced (1-4 in the Reds lineup) getting Choo lookin’ for the third out in the 7th and then retiring the side in order in the 8th: swinging strikeout and two ground outs. Votto took one behind the back before his ground ball – it wasn’t called a HB but, the Reds announcers vociferously begged to differ.

} Ollie merely struck out the side in the 9th for his SECOND save that preserved Aaron’s FOURTH victory!!

AT THE PLATE
~ If early returns are any indication, seems a good bet that Brad will be batting lead-off again tomorrow 🙂
~ As mentioned earlier ~ Brad with TWO hits (both triples), Nick with a TWO-run shot, Michael S with a solo shot and a sac-fly for the other RBIs
~ Good to see the manufacturing as well . . .
Kyle drew a walk, advanced to 2B on a WP, advanced to 3B on a ground out by Mike Z and scored on a deep sac-fly by Michael S
~ Raul extended his hitting streak to ELEVEN games with a single in the 8th (unfortunately, he was erased by a GDP by Kendrys – the THIRD straight inning with a DP turned against them – the only ugh! moments of the game)

IN THE FIELD
* Nice DP started by Brad in the 4th with the runner charging hard, stepped on the bag and fired to 1B
* Kendrys with a TWO base error allowed lead-off runner to get to 2B in the 7th
* Nice play by Kyle to hold the runner at 2B and throw to 1B for the second out
* Kendrys with a “lookie what I found” smash grounder and a flip to Charlie for the third out in the 8th
