g124 | of solid performances, missed opportunities and frustrating losses . . .

Mariners 1 | Athletics 2

ON THE MOUND
By far Aaron’s best start in a long while. Really a shame he couldn’t get the victory (but, at least he didn’t get the loss) . . .
SEVEN innings ~ FIVE hits ~ ONE earned run ~ ONE walk ~ THREE strikeouts

} Charlie with a clean 8th, including TWO strikeouts
} Carter was a little pumped when he struck out the first batter of the 9th (Cespedes) but then, the ultimate bummer – a walk-off homer to Moss. Can’t blame Carter T O O much . . . M’s should have been ahead by at least a couple at that point.

AT THE PLATE
only THREE hits, all singles (Michael S, Brad, Kendrys) through the 6th vs. Parker . . .
~ In the 7th ~ Nick led off with a single, advanced to 2B on a fielding error, got to 3B on a groundout and scored the M’s first run (to tie it at 1-1) on Kendrys base hit. They had something going when Justin hit a line shot down the 1B line but, Kendrys was tagged out at 3B after a rather unexpected (by Kendrys anyway 😦 ) throw.
~ In the 8th ~ ultimate frustration when Michael led off with a solid single, Dustin bunted nicely and ended up at 1B when the pitcher made a WIDE throw and Michael got to 3B  and then . . . K, pop-up, K . . .  argh!!!

IN THE FIELD
Seemed like there were lots of long, loud outs (and, sure enough nine flyouts from Aaron, one from Carter). Unfortunately, the last long, loud hit came in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game and, it wasn’t an out, it went out 😦
