Mariners 4 | Astros 6

ON THE MOUND
Taijuan’s home debut (and his last start of the season) started out a bit shaky but finished very strong . . .
He loaded the bases in the 1st but was able to escape without damage. Then gave up a double that later scored on a sac-fly in the 2nd. Back-to-back doubles gave the Astros their second run in the 3rd. Then Taijuan settled in and retired the side in order in the 4th, 5th and 6th (FIVE via K) . . .
FIVE innings ~ TWO earned runs ~ ONE walk ~ EIGHT strikeouts

} Luke posted ONE scoreless, the 7th
} Carter made things a bit interesting in the 8th by allowing runners to 2B and 3B with only ONE out but, Charlie to the rescue – a strikeout and a ground out (really felt like the momentum would carry them through 😦
} Danny with his SECOND blown save since taking over as closer ~ it happens. He struck out the first batter on THREE pitches and then proceeded to walk the next TWO and ended up allowing FOUR runs (THREE earned) on RBI single, an error and a TWO-run single
} Bobby took over and allowed a single and then a bizzare  deal – Justin caught a foul pop-up and his throw to the plate hit the runner who was crouching in the line of fire and got hit – run scored from 3B

AT THE PLATE
Once again, only FIVE hits but, at least this time a decent ratio of extra base hits . . .
~ Abraham’s FIRST homer in the bigs (he also had a double) was a TWO-run shot that gave the M’s a 3-2 lead at the time
~ Brad hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 9th – too little, too late after the nightmare top of the frame

IN THE FIELD
THREE errors (all throws) one each by: Justin, Brad, Abraham and NO double-plays
