ON THE MOUND
James was AWESOME again . . .
He retired the first EIGHT batters he faced – from the box score link . . .
“I was really just locked in on the catcher,” Paxton said. “I didn’t hear the crowd much or notice how many people were there until they took me out of the game. Then I said to somebody, ‘Wow, it’s loud. There’s a lot of people here, huh?’ But I just stayed locked in and focused on what was going on.”
SIX innings ~ TWO hits ~ ZERO earned runs ~ ZERO runs ~ TWO walks ~ FIVE strikeouts
} Tom got a couple outs but, also walked ONE but, incurred no damage
} Charlie gave up run on a WP
} Danny earned his FOURTEENTH save via 1-2-3 with only NINE pitches
AT THE PLATE
Still some missed opportunities at the plate today (like bases loaded with only ONE out and Guti and Kyle striking out) but, though they were hardly world-beaters on offense, a nice balanced approach got it done . . .
- Guti made up for it in the 5th with a TWO-run double – including James with an RBI, after walking earlier in the inning!
- Kendrys 22nd homer came in the 8th
- And a little insurance was manufactured in the 9th when Dustin walked, advanced on Abraham’s single, advanced again on a WP and then scored on Carlos’ sac fly
IN THE FIELD
A bit better ALL around in the field, on the bases AND behind the plate today . . .
Still no double-plays turned in the entire game – by either side – and no stolen bases.
Brad had to leave the game with a tight hamstring (Carlos replaced him in the 7th)
tweet of the game . . .
