g152 | the Bear overcomes the Tiger

Mariners 8 | Tigers 0

In football, they say “any given Sunday” . . .
whodathunk the M’s could muster a complete victory such as this, at this point in a spent season. Hopefully, they can take some lessons and confidence from it and bottle it going into spring training and beyond.

ON THE MOUND
Kuma, the Bear, was absolutely AMAZING! Not that he wasn’t in deep doo-doo a couple of times but, he escaped (not ONE but TWO bases loaded jams!) Not much to add when your line looks like this . . .
EIGHT innings ~ FOUR hits ~ ZERO runs ~ TWO walks ~ SIX strikeouts

from the MLB.com recap . . .

“I had everything working today and was able to command all my pitches and concentrate until the end,” Iwakuma said through translator Antony Suzuki. “So yes, I would say this was probably my best game of the season.”

} Danny got in an inning of work and added a couple more strikeouts to his amazing total

AT THE PLATE
Only EIGHT total hits (half of those off Verlander) but . . .
~ TWO doubles (Michael and Guti)
~ TWO homers (Guti and Justin)
~ THREE for SEVEN w/RISP

IN THE FIELD
* Kyle with another error (seems he’s WAY overdue for a day off)
* nice DP turned (Carlos-Nick-Justin)
* Michael with a SB
