Mariners 4 | Astros 9

ON THE MOUND
Brandon rode a teeter totter tonight – starting and ending on the down side . . .
he walked the lead-off batter and gave up a homer to the next one but, settled down and retired the next ELEVEN batters in-a-row. Unfortunately, things really unraveled for him in the 5th when he gave up a couple of singles, a double and a homer and the Astros took a 6-2 lead. Unfortunately, Brandon is continuing to be the epitome of inconsistency 😦
FOUR.ONE innings ~ SIX hits ~ SIX earned runs ~ ONE walk ~ TWO strikeouts

} Tom ended a stretch of FOURTEEN scoreless innings when he relieved Brandon in the 5th, allowing TWO walks and a single and the Astros took a 7-2 lead. The Astros extended that lead to 9-2 in the 6th scoring TWO via a walk, single, wild pitch and a ground out
} Joe, Dominic and Charlie each posted a scoreless inning – but, too little, too late

AT THE PLATE
~ Kyle took advantage of an Astro boo-boo in the bottom of the 1st ~ with the bases loaded and ONE out, he hit a ground ball that the 1B man fielded and threw into CF allowing the tying runs to score (2-2)
~ James originally called out on a close play at 1B  in the 2nd w/TWO outs ~ ruled SAFE (w/TWO outs) on the replay challenge and then he stole 2B but, all for naught as Stefen grounded out behind him
~ James extended his hit streak to FOURTEEN and Robbie extended his on-base streak to THIRTY-ONE
~ they had their chances (only 2-9 w/RISP)
~ only ONE extra base hit – Kyle’s triple in the 6th – he scored on a ground out by John

IN THE FIELD
* Michael with a nice knee-sliding catch in shallow RF for the third out in the 2nd
* Robbie with several of his signature “this is SO easy” catches
* James with a couple of nice running catches in CF
* Kyle broke the streak of SIX games w/o an error in the 9th
