Welcome back to the show, Taijuan!
ON the MOUND
Taijuan made his long-awaited 2014 debut . . .
He was a little shaky at first, giving up a couple of homers in each of the first TWO innings (one apparently a straight-up, 2-run moon-shot by Springer) but was able to settle down and get through SIX full, giving up only a couple of singles, a walk, a HBP and benefiting from a couple of DP’s along the way. All-in-all a nice debut . . .
SIX innings ~ FIVE hits ~ THREE earned runs ~ TWO walks ~ SIX strikeouts
} Along came The Bartender with a run of the mill THREE inning save 😉
he was able to get through the 7th and 8th only allowing a walk then, in the 9th another walk a double and a ground out yielded the Astros FOURTH run – luckily, the M’s had TEN by then.
AT the PLATE
Rather odd to see ELEVEN hits, FOUR for extra-bases and they’re ALL homers!
~ The Mariners long balls accounted for EIGHT of the TEN runs: Zu and Michael each w/2-run homers, Brad w/a solo shot and Robbie 3-run jack – no power outage here!
~ For good measure, they added a couple runs in the 9th (hope they saved some for the rest of the series!) LoMo singled with the bases-loaded to score James and Zu hit into a FC to score Robbie
~ And, gotta give props to JJ – FOUR hits, THREE stolen bases and TWO runs scored!
~ Kyle, after being named Player of the Week, joined Dustin in this one – going 0-4
