ON the MOUND
Kuma looking more like Kuma . . .
Still took over 80 pitches to get through SIX but, SIX innings is better than FOUR or FIVE and ONE earned run is better than FIVE (which are some of the sad numbers from his last couple starts). Great to see NO walks and he didn’t give up more than a single. He’s said repeatedly that his neck was not effecting his pitching but, I’m kinda hoping he was fibbing – that the neck is much better and, when it was compromised, it had a lot to do with his struggles.
SIX innings ~ SEVEN hits ~ ONE earned run ~ ZERO walks ~ SEVEN strikeouts
} Dom was a bit shaky, giving up a run on an error, a single and a double – but, with such a lop-sided score at that point, it really didn’t matter
} Brandon went TWO innings for the first time since being back with the big club and placed in the ‘pen. He started with a 95mph FB, ended with a 97mph FB and sprinkled a few sliders and change ups and did not allow a run.
AT the PLATE
wow – where to start when they pound out EIGHTEEN hits?!?
~ Very few were left out, as every starter had at least ONE hit, all but TWO (Brad and Endy) had at least ONE RBI and all but ONE (Brad) scored at least ONE run
~ JJ, Kyle and Dustin did some damage: Ack with an RBI double, JJ with a RBI triple, Kyle with a solo shot
~ How about those SIX doubles?!? FIVE came in the same (6th) inning! Yes, you read that right – the M’s hit FIVE RBI doubles in the 6th
IN the FIELD
* Brad had an error
* Endy with a catch at the wall, preventing Springer from launching one
* No double plays by either side
