Mariners 2 | Mets 3

This one followed the series theme of very little offense but, for the second straight game, the Mets had just enough more.

ON the MOUND
Taijuan, fresh off the DL, had a rather rocky start in terms of control as his FOUR-pitch walk to start the game proved to be an omen for the rest of the game . . .
he took 94 pitches to get through five innings – hopefully, he’s continuing to learn on the job (though that job will continue in Tacoma as he was optioned back to AAA immediately after the game)
FIVE innings ~ TWO hits ~ TWO earned runs ~ SIX walks ~ FIVE strikeouts

} Dom allowed a couple of runs (one inherited) in his 1.1 inning
} Joe and Danny combined for TWO.TWO with TWO strikeouts

Once again, despite Tai’s control issues, overall the pitching was not the issue.

AT the PLATE
Tip o’ the Cap to Mr. Colon – he was PERFECT through SIX . . .
~ thankfully, Robbie singled in the 7th
~ the M’s mounted a bit of a rally in the 8th, scoring their only TWO runs via a walk (Corey), a single (Dustin) a double (Brad) and a ground out (Willie).
~ They had a chance in the 9th w/TWO on and TWO out but, LoMo struck out

IN the FIELD
a nice DP but, a not-so-nice attempt in the OF by JJ – that allowed a run to score in the 6th
