Kendrys’ 1st inning 2-run homer + Kuma and the ‘pen = flying arrows and sweeping brooms

broom 1

Mariners 2 | Blue Jays 0

ON the MOUND
Kuma really had to work in this one – runners on in FIVE of the SEVEN innings he pitched . . .
Yet he was able to keep them off home plate. Get this – Kuma gave up a walk tonight (to Kawasaki) and now has all of TWELVE walks in 139 innings – yowsa!
SIX.TWO innings ~ FIVE hits ~ ZERO runs ~ ZERO earned runs ~ ONE walk ~ FIVE strikeouts

} Charlie replaced Kuma w/TWO outs in the 7th and promptly walked the first man he faced so, consequently, that was the only man he faced. Danny came in and struck out the next guy for the third out (on a nasty curve)
} Yourvis and Nando finished up – both pitched ONE inning, gave up ONE run and struck out TWO – the hit Nando gave up (to Kawasaki) was reviewed and the call of safe at 1B was upheld. The arrow has now flown 35 times this season 🙂

AT the PLATE
Not much going vs. R.A. . . . .
they managed to scatter a few singles and took FOUR walks so, thank goodness for Kendrys’ homer in the 1st (his second homer in as many games) with Austin aboard 🙂

IN the FIELD
*Brad with an awesome ranging, spinning play for the second out of the 2nd inning and a nice leaping catch of a liner for the second out in the 5th
* Robbie made TWO s u p e r   close plays at 1B that were safe by the narrowest of margins
* No DP’s for the second straight game (though TWO turned against them)
