ON the MOUND
When Rick and Aaron started mentioning Tai’s velocity was down, it was a bit concerning, apparently for good reason as he was out of the game after TWO innings. Later, we would hear it was because of “neck spasms” (while not great news, better than shoulder/elbow issues) . . . .
TWO innings ~ TWO hits ~ THREE runs ~ ONE earned run ~ ZERO walks ~ ZERO strikeouts
} Mayckol got through his first TWO innings of work (3rd and 4th) unscathed (a couple of walks but, no hits) then came the 5th – THREE singles and a sac-fly netted the ‘stros a couple more runs
} Mike and Steve combined for THREE innings: ONE run ~ THREE walks ~THREE strikeouts
AT the PLATE
~ Only FIVE hits (fewest since the ONE-hit victory over the Royals at home on April 29)
~ TWO went for extra-bases: Kyle’s double and Ketel’s THREE-run triple (accounting for ALL the M’s runs)
~ Kyle and Ketel were also the only batters w/multiple hits
IN the FIELD
* Ketel had a throwing error
* the Astros continued their stellar DEE show
