Mariners 11 | Astros 8
wOw!!!
What a game!
Unfortunately, I had to be up VERY early for an appointment on Tuesday so, went to bed around the 6th inning (after the M’s had gotten to within two). I was listening via my phone and dosed off for bit until Rick’s ecstatic call of Dylan’s “GRAND SALAMI!” jolted me from my slumber – needless to say, I stayed awake for the duration and then some (‘t was worth it!!!)
ON the MOUND
McCaughan’s first big league start certainly didn’t go as planned: 4IP-8H-7R-7ER-1BB-2SO
That 1st inning was p a i n f u l but, the encouraging thing is that he sucked it up and got through the next TWO scoreless and, after a leadoff homer in the 4th, was able to get through his last inning w/o further damage. Hopefully, in the spirit of “what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger” he learned a lot. No question that Darren will forever be connected to one of the greatest Mariners comeback victories of all time 🙂
- Middleton gave up ONE run in his inning of work (5th)
- the rest of the bullpen (Swanson+Graveman+Sewald) did what they do w/regularity: FOUR innings of hitless/scoreless relief ❤
AT the PLATE
single digit hits, double digit runs . . .
- Raleigh: THREE run double
- Seager: THREE run homer
- Long: ONE run single
- and, of course, the “awakening” of Moore’s GRAND SLAM 🙂
