for the love of aussies

I really did have full intent of watching all the games and blogging a few.

best laid plans but, at least I have a good reason – our household has doubled in size . . .

Meet Mini & Cooper ~ now living their best lives with us on Anderson Island

So, will watch when not walking, potty training, etc. And, try to blog now and then (during nap time?) – can’t promise there won’t be more puppy pics than M’s recaps but, doesn’t mean I don’t still care – GO MARINERS 🙂

Rosy OoO . . .

Off for a little 4-day weekend to Portland with my BFF so . . .

I’ll have to catch up on yesterday’s game with the Padres and the upcoming series vs. the Royals when I return on Monday.

GO MARINERS!!!

I’m amazed . . . no “maybe” about it

It’s not every road trip that I visit Safeco Field . . .
Though there are a handful of times that I’ve visited the ballpark when the Mariners weren’t actually playing: a couple of times for the Fred Hutch Lunch, back in January of 2011 (when I celebrated my 50th birthday with 100 or so of my family and friends) and, this past April for the Open House on Opening Day to watch the M’s start the season in Oakland on the brand new video board.

All those were very fun and very special but, this was really an event . . . the first ever public rock concert held at Safeco Field.

Unfortunately, I never saw The Beatles live, though I did get to see Ringo Starr and his All Star Band at St Michelle Winery a few years back and it was really fun. But this was on a whole other level. I took my son and his girlfriend but, by the looks of the crowd, there were at least four generations represented. A testament to the timelessness and significance of the music.

There was an extra special treat for the younger of the generations in the Seattle crowd when, as part of the encore, Sir Paul introduced the surviving members of Nirvana and who performed with him the rest of the way (some seven or so songs).

My favorite portion of the concert was the set of: Something, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Band on the Run, Back in the USSR, Let It Be, Live and Let Die and Hey Jude

Just an amazingly awesome night.

(oh yeah, and down in Houston ~ the Mariners won!)

#BostonStrong

What a week for Boston 😦

Thoughts and prayers to all who have been touched by the horrible events.

Heartfelt thanks and respect for all the first responders, good samaritans, doctors, other care-givers and law enforcement who were able to save so many lives, capture the perpetrator and free a city.

Besides the obvious jubilation re: “the capture” it was also Fenway Park’s 101st birthday . . .

Mariners 3 | Rays 2

Way for Kevin to bounce back from his last start and from that first inning…
he scattered EIGHT hits in SEVEN innings, gave up ONE walk and TWO runs and K’d EIGHT

In the post game show, Shannon pointed out a fun fact…
KW was down 3-0 with THREE different hitters with RISP – and he STRUCK ’em ALL OUT!

Stephen Pryor was none too shabby himself…
the only hit he allowed in 1-2 innings was a lead-off double and then proceeds to strikeout the next two and get a fly ball for the third out.

Moore had been holding left handers to a .176 average but…
Ackley was able to pound out THREE hits
Seager had two hits and scored a run
Smoak (just recalled from Tacoma due to Carp’s injury) lined a double in his first AB

And, in the 9th, vs. the best closer this season…
-Seager singles
-Figgy pinch hits for Wells (who had K’d 3x) and lays down a bunt to move the runner but, Pena makes a bad throw and Figgy ends up on 2B and Seager on 3B
-Smoak hits a sac-fly scoring Seager to tie the game and Figgy gets to 3B
-Olivo strikes out
-Thames (after striking out 3x) singles on a 1-2 count, Figgy scores….

Mariners WIN!!!!!!!!!!

Time to go play with my grade school friends…

the second annual gather of “the Dieringer Girls”!

last year it was the ocean..
this year the mountain…

Go, M’s beat those Rays!

Catching up on some recent additions…

Spent a few days in Lake Tahoe, visiting my daughter for Super Bowl weekend.
What an absolutely beautiful place…

Oh, and though I was not at all enamored by the SB match-up, I managed to stay interested due to my parlay bets…

Now, back to baseball…

Pitchers and Catchers report on Saturday!!!

Happy Birthday to me!

I don’t remember ever having snow on my birthday.  But then, they say the memory is the first to go.

No doubt this is what people around the country are imaging when hearing the weather reports for our fair city 🙂

I think it may have gotten even MORE difficult for Jesus Montero to hit any out at Safeco Field 😉
