Mariners 3 | Red Sox 5

boxscore

ON the MOUND

oh those base on balls . . .

  • a start that Margevicius would like to forget (only recorded ONE out) .1IP-2H-4R-4ER-4BB-1SO
  • the ‘pen of Steckenrider+Sadler+Newsome did an admirable job: 7.2IP-3-1R-1ER-3BB-5SO (Newsome went FOUR)

AT the PLATE

seems like the yield should have been more than THREE runs . . .

  • only SIX total hits
  • but, FIVE doubles
  • ONE walk

IN the FIELD

  • outfield assist (Haggerty)
  • TWO DPs (Crawford-France-White; Seager-France-White)

Mariners 8 | Red Sox 2

boxscore

ON the MOUND

  • Flexen flexin’: 7IP-4H-1R-1ER-1BB-7SO

not too shabby, especially since the RS practically lead the world in every offensive category

  • Middleton + Vest = 2IP-2H-1R-1ER-0BB-2SO

AT the PLATE

  • as Haniger cools down, Kyle heats up, France re-bounding nicely after his HBP several days ago – and what about Haggerty?!?
  • multi-hit games for France + Seager + White + Haggerty = 11H and 6RBI
  • Seagar just a HR shy of the cycle (though, he had one in his last at bat in the previous game) but, Haggerty’s homer in the 8th has the M’s with at least ONE homer in 13 of their last 15 games

IN the FIELD and ON the BASES

  • TWO DPs (Flexen-Crawford-White; Seager-France-White)
  • Haggerty w/a SB

  • Steckenrider + Newsome = 3.1IP-5H-1R-0ER-0BB-3SO

AT the PLATE

lots a hits (11) but, runs were few and far between until Seager’s 9th inning THREE-run shot that brought them to within ONE. Good to see the other Kyle rounding into form with a single and a double.

  • Moore with his FOURTH SB

boxscore

ON the MOUND

Dunn threw WAY too many pitches but, he kept ’em in it! 5IP-6H-2R-2ER-1BB-6SO

the usual STELLAR ‘pen combined for: 5IP-1H-1R-1ER-1BB-5SO

  • Vest allowed the walk
  • Sadler gave up the hits and the run
  • Graveman, Montero and Misiewicz all recorded clean sheets
  • Montero got the W

AT the PLATE

the O made the most of what they got ~ which was not much till the 6th inning 😉

  • only THREE hits but, TWO doubles (France and Haggerty) and a homer (Haniger)
  • 3 for 6 w/RISP
  • only THREE left on base

(contrast to the RedSox – EIGHT hits but, 1 for 11 w/RISP and NINE left on base)

Nice to see . . .

  • Ty come back (after the nasty HBP in the first Dodger game) tying it up in the 6th
  • JP with a sac-fly to re-tie it in the 8th
  • Mitch being Mitch – lots of insurance w/a THREE-run bomb in the 10th

Sam is going to quickly become a fan favorite if he keeps making the most of his opportunities!

  • 8th inning = steals 2B and scores on a sac-fly to tie the game (again)
  • 10th inning = RBI double to give the M’s the lead

IN the FIELD & ON the BASES

Sam SB; no DP’s (but TWO turned against them)

Mariners 7 | Astros 2

boxscore

When I made the choice several years ago to move to the southern most island in Puget Sound, I knew I attending games would be more of a challenge but, I still managed to get to every Opening Day as well as a handful of day games each season since moving. Then came 2020 and that little thing called a global pandemic – my only appearance at T-Mobile Park last season, like many fans, was as a cardboard cutout. I wasn’t able to make it to Opening Day this year so, today was my first time back at the ballpark since the middle of the 2019 season . . .

AND. IT. FELT. SO. GOOD!

Back at the ballpark!

ON the MOUND

Kikuchi’s see-saw started off on the upside: 4.1 innings of ZERO hits. Then, a couple of rough innings -5th and 7th- where he was sorta singled to death (including TWO of the 2-run variety). But, even though his final line wasn’t spectacular, good to see him get through SEVEN: 7IP-6H-5R-5ER-3BB-3SO

Way to go, Bully!

Steckenrider & Misiewicz combined for 2 innings of ONE hit, ZERO runs, walks and TWO Ks

AT the PLATE
