This game was the M’s 41st comeback victory and their 12th straight vs the A’s And, it was SO cool to see the youth, the future, getting it done . . . No matter what happens over the next three games – the experience for them is INVALUABLE.
SUPER outing for young Logan: 5.2IP-3H-1R-1ER-2BB-4SO
Smith got the last out of the 6th
Castillo struck out TWO but, allowed a solo shot to re-tie the game at 2-2
Sewald + Steckenrider = TWO scoreless innings
AT the PLATE
only SIX total hits but, that’s all they needed (along with capitalizing on some A’s goofs)
6th: Mitch and Ty both reach via error: Jarred 2-run double to take the lead
7th: Dylan walk; JP hit n’ run single; Ty sac-fly to break the 2-2 tie
8th: Abraham with a solo shot
IN the FIELD
no DP’s or errors

*snort* I laughed out loud, after CB Bucknor (who's zone has been all over the place tonight) took one off the dome–went down behind home plate and it appeared he was okay… @heygoldy says as he rights himself "Dare I say this isn't going to make things get any better tonight"
Logan Gilbert is the youngest Mariners pitcher to make 6 September starts with a sub-3.00 ERA since Felix Hernandez (age 23) posted a 1.52 ERA in 6 September starts in 2009.
Awesome starting pitching, nails bp, power AND manufactured runs and (my personal favorite) SPARKLING defense ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Congrats to Kyle Seager!
His 35th homer accounted for his 100th RBI ~ both career highs ~ and put him in the M’s history books as only the 9th Mariner to accomplish the combined feats
After allowing Tom Murphy’s RBI single that made it 2-0 Seattle, A’s lefty Cole Irvin has now allowed 13 runs in 15 2/3 innings vs. the Mariners this season.
Kikuchi loads the bases with out, but come back to strike out Henry Ramos and Seth Beer using a combination of fastballs and lulling them to sleep in between pitches.
Marco threw way too many pitches (101) but, posted ZERO earned runs (though one of the unearned runs was due to his error) – line: 6IP-4H-3R-0ER-1BB-3SO
Misiewicz+Sadler+Castillo+Steckenrider combined for THREE innings, ONE run
AT the PLATE
Homer! (JP) Homer! (Tom) Homer! (Tom, again!)
and Ty breaks the 3-3 tie in the 5th with an RBI single, scoring Dylan (who had stolen 2B)
Second time this game Moore has stolen second. He's talked a few times this year about the importance he places on being able to affect the game with his speed and distracting pitchers.
Dylan Moore's 2nd stolen base leads to a run. France with a hard hit single up the middle off the glove of Andrew Young puts the Mariners on top up 4-3.
an extremely rare (for the M’s anyway) TWO pitcher game . . .
Flexen: 6.2IP-6H-1R-1ER-1BB-5SO
Steckenrider: 2.1-2H-0R-0ER-0BB-1SO
AT the PLATE
ELEVEN total hits . . .
every batter but one had at least ONE hit (Mitch who walked twice)
bottom of the order delivering: Torrens, Murphy, Kelenic and Moore combining for SEVEN hits and all FIVE rbi
IN the FIELD
ONE error (Seager)
TWO DP’s (Crawford-Seager-France, Crawford-Toro-France)

Before the game Servais joked about how he sometimes wished the team's clutch AB's came in the 2nd inning instead of the 9th. I wonder if the 3rd inning works just as well.
You hate to see it. Cole Irvin since popping off after the M's torched him for 10 hits in 4 IP back in May: 4 IP 5 H 4 ER on 7/25 3 IP 7 H 3 ER today Including the May start: 11.2 IP, 22 H, 11 ER pic.twitter.com/xY5zKYKMBu
Good idea Melvin lifted Irvin from the game because nobody should give up 10 hits to "a team like that" and he was getting close. https://t.co/UFA7I2qXbS
I think it’s cool Servais wears his affection for the team on his sleeve instead of being crusty, stoic old-timey guy. You saw him out there just now. He was fired up for his squad. Good on him.
Unfortunately, I had to be up VERY early for an appointment on Tuesday so, went to bed around the 6th inning (after the M’s had gotten to within two). I was listening via my phone and dosed off for bit until Rick’s ecstatic call of Dylan’s “GRAND SALAMI!” jolted me from my slumber – needless to say, I stayed awake for the duration and then some (‘t was worth it!!!)
McCaughan’s first big league start certainly didn’t go as planned: 4IP-8H-7R-7ER-1BB-2SO
That 1st inning was p a i n f u l but, the encouraging thing is that he sucked it up and got through the next TWO scoreless and, after a leadoff homer in the 4th, was able to get through his last inning w/o further damage. Hopefully, in the spirit of “what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger” he learned a lot. No question that Darren will forever be connected to one of the greatest Mariners comeback victories of all time 🙂
Just for the record, #Mariners are 1-0 in games started by Darren McCaughan.
A disastrous start for Darren McCaughan, who just gave up a three-run HR to Kyle Tucker that puts Houston up 5-0 in the first inning. Lots of Houston fans here tonight, by the way.
A shift-beating single by Shed Long brings in Torrens to cut Houston's lead to 8-7. Torrens moved up to scoring position via a wild pitch, which has been Mariners' best friend on this homestand. #Mariners were once down 7-0.
As unlikely as it seemed back in the 1st inning, the Mariners are within a run of the Astros.
I talked with Servais about his team's comfort level in 1-run games and he says it starts by talking about it and being very open that this is their brand of baseball.
There’s a lot of ground to cover in the outfield at Coors Field. From his experience playing here Servais says it’s the balls that aren’t hit well that drop in front of guys playing deep that cause the most problems.
There you go! Raleigh first pitch swinging picks up his first MLB RBI's and double. Sends one to the gap in right center, scores France and Seager. 2-2.
Rockies try to test the arm of Shed Long Jr. in left field. But he delivers a strong throw to Kyle Seager for what was ruled an out on the field. Regardless of the replay decision, Long has worked to improve his throwing from the outfield
