Houston, you had a problem!

wOw!!!

What a game!

Unfortunately, I had to be up VERY early for an appointment on Tuesday so, went to bed around the 6th inning (after the M’s had gotten to within two). I was listening via my phone and dosed off for bit until Rick’s ecstatic call of Dylan’s “GRAND SALAMI!” jolted me from my slumber – needless to say, I stayed awake for the duration and then some (‘t was worth it!!!)

ON the MOUND

McCaughan’s first big league start certainly didn’t go as planned: 4IP-8H-7R-7ER-1BB-2SO

That 1st inning was p a i n f u l but, the encouraging thing is that he sucked it up and got through the next TWO scoreless and, after a leadoff homer in the 4th, was able to get through his last inning w/o further damage. Hopefully, in the spirit of “what doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger” he learned a lot. No question that Darren will forever be connected to one of the greatest Mariners comeback victories of all time 🙂

  • Middleton gave up ONE run in his inning of work (5th)
  • the rest of the bullpen (Swanson+Graveman+Sewald) did what they do w/regularity: FOUR innings of hitless/scoreless relief ❤

AT the PLATE

single digit hits, double digit runs . . .

  • Raleigh: THREE run double
  • Seager: THREE run homer
  • Long: ONE run single
  • and, of course, the “awakening” of Moore’s GRAND SLAM 🙂

  • Chargois+Sadler+Misiewicz+Steckenrider THREE innings w/just a solo shot (off Sadler)

the bullpen is freakin’ amazing!!!

way to go, Logan!

Gilbert’s first big league venture in to the 7th inning: 6.2IP-4H-1R-1ER-1BB-6SO and the victory!

After Misiewicz and Steckenrider combined for 1.1 hitless/scoreless, Graveman made it interesting in the 9th . . . allowing a run after TWO quick outs: a walk, a single, a HBP and a wild pitch – but, a liner finally ended it

AT the PLATE

THIRTEEN hits!

every batter but two got at least ONE hit (one of those being Haniger, who did not have an official AB – going out after fouling a ball off his knee) and the RBI were sprinkled throughout the lineup

  • TWO homers: Seager and Fraley (in for the injured Haniger)
  • TWO doubles: Bauers and Seager (now tied w/Ichiro for the third most in M’s history – 295)

boxscore

ON the MOUND

Nice to have Marco’s back: 4.0IP-2H-1R-1ER-1BB-6SO

but, ‘t was all downhill after that 😦

Santiago, Sewald and Zamora combined to allow NINE runs (SIX just in the 7th) and then Vest added a couple more

AT the PLATE

Normally, ELEVEN hits for SIX runs, including THREE doubles (Haniger, Seager, France) and TWO homers (Trammell and Murphy) is good enough for the victory but, the bullpen wasn’t able to maintain what Marco started

IN the FIELD and ON the BASES

  • ONE DP (Walton-Crawford)
